What in the world appears like it was intelligently designed?

I understand why the theory may appeal to those who want to believe in a god. But nothing in the world actually works very well. That's why religious cultures have always invented myths of a fall from a time when things did actually appear to be evidence of a good god, such as the Garden of Eden myth.
Examples I would give...
An entire universe of infinite size needed to be created in order to make an earth with an inhabitable climate, one sun, one moon, and stars. The earth in comparison to the scale of the universe, is an invisible dot.
Most of the earth is uninhabitable by gods chosen creatures (humans) because it is ocean. 
Even of the parts of the earth which are land, almost none of it is well suited for human life. 
The most successful organisms on earth, bacteria and viruses (yes I know they are not really living) can actually produce diseases which cause horrendous misery and suffering in humans.
The continuation of life depends upon things killing each other. 
Even on this one tiny planet where life can exist, the atmosphere produces regular fatal effects such as hurricanes, floods, droughts.
The construction of the planet itself also creates natural disasters as a matter if course. Like the weather, the geology of the earth has to cause earthquakes and volcanic eruptions because that's how it works.
Birth defects are far from uncommon in creatures, including humans, which cannot possibly be deserved no matter how masochistically you force yourself to feel. The result being poor souls forced to live with disability.
Even those who are born healthy have very fragile bodies which break easily in more or less dramatic ways such as losing sight or hearing.
The required nutrients for the body's correct functioning are not all that easy to come by, and impossible for people living in certain climates.

I'm interested to know what outweighs all this, but please don't refer to "pretty flowers" or "waterfalls in the dawn light".

You have given the word moron new light of ignorance. I really do not think you can begin to fathom how many systems are codependant upon each other in the world; nor do I believe you have the mental capacity to understand how mathematically astonishing it is that life exists in the first place. How fast the world turns; how far it is away from the sun; the seasons for renewal; photosynthesis; condensation; reproduction; visual perception; and a list of a million wonderfully coordianted systems harmoniously exist to give us an amazing variety of life and foods and geographic scenery. You cannot create one single-celled amoeba from scratch- nor can all of science. The greatest minds of scientists have marvelled at the wonders of everything from micro biology to astronomy in amazement, but you are superior to them, right?. Snowflakes.  Snowflakes strike me as something you could say appeared designed.  In fact, I've come across a few theists who claim God sits down and individually designs each and every unique snowflake.

No wonder god gets nothing else done.  Maybe god is behind global warming -- he's just sick and tired of spending all his time making snowflakes.

Many things "appear" to be designed, but then to a fundie appearance is all they consider. Just like their continually saying - why don't you just believe to save yourself - since their "belief" is superficial and they consider that adequate they figure every one can "believe" the way they do and any "supernatural being" won't know the difference.
