When sharing marmalade at the breakfast table, does one pass the jar to the left or right?

Oh I see. And I suppose One doesn't use a bread knife for spreading it ?

    Jar?...JAR??.....One decants ones conserves into serving dishes. One is not a Neanderthal.

    One is unfamiliar with the item 'bread knife'. Maybe cook could shine a light on the matter.

    One does not pass the marmalade. One's butler or footman does it.
