Viber on the tablet using a phone number (but do not have a data plan)?

I do not have data plan on my phone, and if I use my phone number to install viber on a wi-fi only tablet, will I be charged by my carrier (AT&T) for using 3G data? I want to make only viber-to-viber calls from my tablet but I am hesitant to use my phone number for installation since I do not know if AT&T might charge me? I am now planning to use wi-fi to make viber calls. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the only thing Viber uses your phone number for is to make it easier for other Viber users to connect to you.

It wouldn't make sense for AT&T to charge for this...

First of all, Viber on a WiFi only tablet can only use WiFi, which is not data on the AT&T network.

Second of all, if AT&T *did* charge for something like this, there would be no way for them to be sure that the phone numbers people were giving to Viber really belonged to them, which would mean lots of people complaining to AT&T (and Verizon, and T-Mobile, etc.) about being ripped off.
