What do you do for stress and anxiety?

I have been to the doctor and she told me to see a therapist for my anxiety and phobias. At the moment, I cannot due to money issues. I have anxiety attacks almost weekly. It makes me nauseous, shaky, and cold and just plain sucks. The next day I feel bad too because it is such a drain on my body. I have this problem due to my emetophobia. I'm so afraid of getting sick that I've been struggling with anorexia for over half my life. I am only 21 now. I am not under weight and eat regularly but I've messed up my stomach because of it and now have a weak tummy. I was wondering what I could do to lower my stress levels, or maybe rid myself of this irrational fear? Even advice on how to ease my stress and anxiety would be great. Thanks so much.

In my case, I strictly follow my mentors instructions. They are:-

    Quote:

There are several reasons for anxiety attacks. One reason is because of illegitimate desires, one may get anxiety. Illegitimate desire or pleasure throws our pure spirit outwards; love of the divine nature takes our pure spirit inwards.

Secondly, if one is not nurturing healthy, constructive and noble thoughts, habits and traits and if one is not building strong moral behaviors, then it can also lead to anxiety.

Thirdly, if one is not having physical self-discipline and mental control, it can lead to anxiety.

Fourthly one should have homogeneous thoughts, words and deeds. If there is any mismatch in ones thinking, talking and action, it may result in double standards and also in shaking the basic moral foundations.

Fifthly, if there are huge accumulations of impurities hidden in the mind, it can result in doubts, confusions, suspicion or fear.

Sixthly one should only see the brighter side of future. I mean one should not look back about the darker side of the shadow. Avoid darker or negative side of viewing things. Be positive in attitude with a broader outlook and noble vision.

Please analyze everything and try to come out of this problem by some self-efforts.

yah me too! :) I'm 13 and if one little thing goes wrong i freak out, my breathing gets quicker, i start to cry and i get gas. It seems kind of lame, but i go to my mom for a hug :3

I have anxious tummy too, everything i eat gives me MORE gas, but other than hugs, i just distract myself from whatever's happening, like go on the computer, need a book, or go get another hug. This has been happening my entire life, i'm sorry if it's not helpful, i don't really know much about my anxiety yet :/

Meditate! There are some great apps out there that really help me relax. There's this British guy...Glenn something. He's like world renowned for his meditation and hypnosis techniques. If you have an iPhone or iPod you can look him up in the iTunes store.
