What do you think about Pacquiao not wanting to move up in weight for a Cotto rematch?

I thought besides Cotto coming off the beating from the plaster handed Margaritto & being drained to go down in weight definetly made that fight easy for Manny. That's why Cotto looked so good against Floyd is because he didn't take the coward way out & make this guy go down to a weight he's not at his best at.

Update:

someone said that Cotto fought at 147 the fight before & you are correct the fight with Pacquiao was a catch weight of 145. So instead of the 147 limit Cotto had to come in under his normal fighting weight.

Update 2:

Some of the responses have been funny from all the Manny lovers. Manny requested a catchweight of 145lbs against Cotto but 4 of his next 5 fights didn't have catchweights & actually let Margaritto fight at 150. I think he knew if Cotto was at 100% that he could potentially lose.

If there has to be a catch weight, it has to apply only to Pacquiao as a concession for having only to reach just the minimum limits of the next heavier weight category. His opponents like Cotto should never have been forced to really go down from their peak fighting weight, which is usually the maximum limit. That's the way with Henry Armstrong who weighed just an average of 138 lbs. when he was fighting at welterweight which was okay since at that time any fighter weighing above `135 lbs.but not more than 147 lbs. was already considered welterweight. But the thing is, Armstrong never also asked his foes to come down from their usual fighting weight. There never was a supposedly common catch weight as is done today where the bigger man only is compelled to meet while the smaller man has the option to meet or come under it. That's advanatageous only to Pacquiao.

Think it's pretty cheesy that someone who wants to call himself an 8-division champion is still demanding catch-weights. If he wants to call himself a Jr Middlweight champion, then he should have no issues fighting at that weight class. I think people use the term champion a little too loosely today. There are far more weight classes in boxing today than there ever were in the history of the sport and for any fighter to continually demand a catch-weight is pretty absurd. Good for Cotto for not ceding to Pac's/Arum's demands. He has plenty of potential big pay days left with Alvarez, Chavez Jr, etc that he no longer has to bend to the demands of Pac or Mayweather. Personally, I don't care for fighters who disrespect the sport and try to win the fight at the negotiating table.

Cotto doesnt have the talent to beat pacquiao, i dont know why cotto or some of his fans dont know this...Even if they fought at 150 or 154 the result is still the same...Its only an alibi to say that manny beat me because im weight drained.hahahahah....Just like what happen to dawson right now, most of his fans think that ward only beats him because he was weight drained...Which is crap hahahahha...

Pacquiao is an elite fighter, an 8-division champion and one of the best, if not the best, p4p in the world. He has earned the right to fight at a weight class or even a catch weight he desires. It's his opponents' problem whether they would sign to fight him or not. Nothing unfair there as long as both fighters agree with the weight limit. If Cotto agrees to a weight he knows he couldn't make or handle, that's his problem.

You don't have your facts right. Cotto was already at 147 when he signed the contract. He fought Clottey at 147 before the Pacquiao fight.

So to answer your question, he said 147 would be his highest weight and he's smaller built then Floyd so I still respect him?

well pacquiao started his career at 122 and after his fight with margarito he said he didn't feel comfortable at jr middleweight so i don't blame him. Cotto would win this time around,

In Pacquiao's first match, he admitted to having put coins in his pocket just so he could make the minimum weight and be allowed to fight. 10 years ago, nobody expected him to fight as a welterweight. Now he is so good, you want him to go up to full jr. middleweight? Will this not end until he fight in the heavies?

Pacquiao has moved up through all the weight class starting from the bottom to where he is today. A small man can only gain so much. He has obviously reached his limit and catch weights are the only way he can keep competing with heavier boxers with big names.

That's his prerogative. Cotto can fight another boxer, that's his choice too. Why insist on what you want against a fighter who doesn't feel comfortable at the weight he wants, so you can have the advantage?

if cotto doesnt want it...why would pac?

    pac's power already declined...

aint smart to fight above his comfy weight
