How did the term fuzz ever get associated with police?

    on the use of 'fuzz' or 'fuzzy' in other items of derogatory criminal slang of the period. To be 'fuzzy' was to be unmanly, incompetent and soft. How better to insult the police, after all, than to mock them as ineffectual?" That explanation seems as good as any, and better than most.

    When most boys are about 13 - 14 they start to grow [fuzz] on their upper lip.14 years old is the maximum age that psychologist's say that most cops ever reach mentally and emotionally.Many never advance beyond 8 - 9.They are immature,macho,strutting cowardly little boys who have never grown up.

    Came from the Senegalese Wolof dialect for horse in reference to what police road.

    Picked up in the 1920's in the US when mixed with the compliant by those on the street that cops cause them trouble because they are so "fussy" fuss.

    Also at the time being "fussy" was a derogatory term denoting being unmanly
