Will isopropyl alcohol dissolve lacquer on a brass instrument?

I currently play trombone in my high school marching band, and I was wondering if I could pour a bit (isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol) into the slide just to kill any extra bacteria, you know, just for overkill measures. I've used it on my mouthpiece and nothing bad happened.

No I'm pretty sure IPA won't dissolve the lacquer. It evaporates very quickly and the lacquer is probably quite resilient. Try a little on an inconspicuous area first.

Isopropyl found at pharmacy etc, will kill bacteria not lacquer.
