What is wrong with my car?

I have a 98' Buick Skylark. The car was running perfectly when I went to go get gas. I filled the tank up and now it wont start. The car does not make a revving sounds at all. The only sound it makes when I try to start it is the sound of a cordless drill. What could the issue possibly be? It does have a lot of mileage on it at 180,000.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

First check to see if the starter is loose. If not then the starter itself is going bad

That sure sounds like the starter not engaging the flex plate. That happens when water gets into the starter and hardens the grease. A replacement starter is the fix, but you may get it working for a while by banging on the starter. Some people use a hammer but a mallet or end of a baseball bat is safer.

sounds to me like the starter is not kicking in ! all it,s doing is sitting there and spinning and not engaging with the flywheel ! sounds like you need a new starter ! getting gas did not do it, things can happen at the spur of the moment !
