is it ok to charge my ipod with an old cellphone plug?

i have an ipod touch 4g, and i was wondering if it would be ok to use the wall charger from an old cellphone to charge it. the output on the charger is 0.7a, and i know apple uses 1.0. will this make a difference? will it shorten battery life? it seems to work ok

    Yes, it will shorten the battery life. If your looking for a short-term solution to use before you buy a new charger then I say go for it. But, if you're looking for a long-term solution i wouldn't suggest it.
