Tips on quitting smoking?

so ive decided to quit smoking using nicotine lozenges starting from tomorrow, I feel ready to quit and that it will benefit my family as I have a young baby :) its going to be tough but I'm very determined to quit as I've been smoking since I was 11 ( I'm now 19 ) so if you could wish me some luck and maybe give some tips and/or stories of how you stopped or how you attempted to it would be greatly appreciated. thank you :)

You want to do it and you have determination and that is what you need as well as strong willpower, long time ago I smoked for about 6 years and when I was pregnant it was still very hard to give up but I managed 6 weeks before my daughter was born and stayed off it for 16 years and stupidly started again when my marriage ended and now a heavy smoker but I dont have any willpower. I have friends that tried the patches etc and they did help them but willpower and determination is the best help there is, apart from your health think of the money you will save, the first day is the worst and the second is bad but by the third you should be ok and then around 2 weeks later you will get a strong urge just to try one but dont give in, Good Luck

Hearing the decision to quit from you, yourself is very rewarding and could warrant a higher rate of success if you would not fall into temptation to smoke again. However, quitting does not happen overtime. It takes time-days, weeks, or perhaps even months. First of all I would suggest that you get rid of any cigarettes that is still in your possession and stay away from it. Also it is advisable to chew on something like a gum for instance to keep your mouth busy especially when you have these cravings for nicotine. Moreover, involve your family in your decision to stop smoking for they are the ones who can help you manage your problem and keep track of you whenever temptations knocks at your door. Try to keep yourself busy like focus more on your hobbies and things that you enjoy aside from smoking. By the way, have you tried nicotine patches? If no, you might wanna check on that. I hear it works. If the day would pass without you touching that cigar then you should always congratulate yourself. Good luck and hoping the best for you...

The nicorette inhaler is supposed to be good too. Some people find it helpful because you get to hold it like a real cigarette so it helps with that side of the habit too. Remember, cravings only last seconds....do something to take your mind off it when having a craving, such as go for a walk, call a friend, chew gum etc. Its a tough thing to do but definetely worth it in the end, you'll feel much healthier! Good luck!

I stopped smoking 2 years ago. My local Doctor's Practice Nurse was a great help (and so were the Niquitine lozenges).

Keep yourself busy and you won't have a problem.

Good luck... now start saving loadsa wonga!
