Period for almost two weeks?

I know you need to call your dr. when you've had your period for 60 days. How long does your period need to be to be alarmed? I've had my period for 9 days now. It is usualy only 7 days long.

Okay, you left out some important info. Have you recently started birth control? Are you on a birth control? Under any stress? All of those can cause your period to be wonky. Some women just get "blessed" with longer periods, me being one of them. :( I feel your pain. Has your flow lightened at all, or is it heavy/normal? Those would help in assisting you and further advising you on whether you should see someone.

Here's my take on it, though. If you are just having a normal period and it's just being long and annoying, I wouldn't worry. If you recently started BC or are currently taking BC, sometimes that can cause your period to be weird. If you are bleeding heavily (soaking a pad or tampon every hour) go see someone. Otherwise, ride it out, if it really bothers you make an appt with your gyno/reg dr and maybe they can switch you to, or put you on, a BC that helps control the length and heaviness of your flow. Good luck honey!

you shouldnt be worried if its 9 days although it is probably getting on your nerves ! i know someone whos period lasted 14 days so just see how you are for the next few days but if you are feeling a bit worried it wouldn't hurt to drop by the local doctors to see everythings ok :) x
