First thing is don't scratch! You will make them more irritated and risk opening the skin and inviting infection. Also you have germs living under your fingernails that can transfer into the open wounds. If you do happen to see signs of infection (swelling, oozing, bruising) you can try using Neosporin on the bites to fight the infection. As far as relieving the the itch, you can try a couple of things. Taking an antihistamine like Benedryl can help but can make you a bit groggy. There are some topical sprays and creams that will also help. I have found that Cortizone 10 helps. You can ask your local pharmacist what they recommend. Most importantly is preventing the bites from the beginning. When in an area where mosquitoes are out, try to wear longer sleeves and pants. Obviously when it's hot out, more skin = cooler. That's when you will have to resort to bug spray. I personally am not a fan of deet products, I don't like bathing in chemical. I try to stay with a more natural product containing eucalyptus. But if I was in an area where malaria was prevalent, I would probably break my no deet rule. Anyway, hope this helps!
