86 merkur xr4ti 2.3 liter turbo.....need help?
i have and 86 merkur with a 2.3 liter turbo. i am having trouble with the acceleration. when i give it more than a 1/4 throttle and the trubo starts to read about 6 to 7 psi of boost. it stats to stumble like crazy and some time even back fire through the throttle body and the exhaust. i have change out the (pickup coil, the moduel, the spark plug, the wires, cap and rotor. i have done pretty much all i cand think of. i need help on this as much as possible. please does anyone know anything about this german beast.
by the way the turbo is knew. the valves are new. the engine has been rebuilt.

must be the turbo charger at fault ..i would get the timing checked it might be slightly out like a small misfire .should be simple to have it checked.have you changed the oil recently might be weak on the turbo .
Source(s): turbo can give trouble if oil run down .got to change oil regular.
