Will Barack Obama legalize weed/marijuana?

I don't smoke but i'm just curious if this will happen or if this is his "secret weapon". I see that weed/marijuana isn't bad at all compared to alcohol so it seems it could be a possibility because why not legalize it if it is not harmful or if it is in the talks already. thanks!!

Neither Congress nor the President can legalize marijuana - the United Nation's "Single Convention" forbids them from doing that. The Single Convention was expressly written to keep marijuana illegal FOREVER, and from the looks of it that's exactly what it's going to do.

We like to think that our country makes its own decisions but when it comes to marijuana our laws are dictated to us by foreigners living in Europe. Sometimes it feels like 1776 all over again! :(

If any of it really is actual (which it likely isn't) then female friend you've heavily were given to position off the medicine! sturdy lord, you'll provide marijuana activists a nasty call!! shops must be allowed to promote legally-grown marijuana to adults because the present ban *doesn't* end human beings paying for and utilising marijuana, and it *does* draw drug sellers into our neighborhoods making our little ones a lot less secure.

Not a single person here has answered correctly.

Cannabis will never be legalized 100 % because of the BIG PHARM COMPANIES.

If you know about herbs and alternative medicines, most of todays prescription meds, come from the study of plants and such. Now BIG PHARM has learned how to synthsize the natural parts of the healing plants, and there for can "patent' that man made creation. No one that I know of can patent a natural plant. However a patent that the U S goverment has given "THEMSELVES" this below.

Just check out US Patent 6630507 titled “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” which is assigned to The United States of America, as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services.

    The patent claims that -

“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.”

The patent was obtained in October of 2003.

So our own goverment has their hands in all of the drug trade, and the money that it brings in is incredible. To quote Hilarry Clinton, when she was asked if the gov would ever totally legalize cannabis, she said " Why should we, when we make so much money off of it.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea now.

The President does not have the power to legalize cannabis. It would be up to Congress to legalize it. And they're not going to take any steps to do that. Alcohol and Tobacco Companies, Police and Prison Guard Unions, Drug Companies and Private Prison Corporations all want cannabis to stay illegal. And they'll give members of Congress millions of dollars in campaign contributions to keep it illegal.

One day it will be legal. In some states it is legal...However even legal in a state in the Us government it is not. It is far safer than drinking and less volatile. It helps those in pain and people suffering from medical illness.

While I believe we'll eventually see this happen, I don't think it'll be during Obama's administration - and that's assuming he gets re-elected.
