Mystic Pizza Question?

the synopsis says that the teens are slinging hash in the movie. Is hash an 80's term? or if not where in the movie was this?

    They were working at a pizza place called Mystic Pizza. Slinging hash means working as a waiter on the service-side of a restaurant. Mystic Pizza really does exist, it's just different inside than the movie.
