Can a caterer leave leftovers if the event is catered in your own home?
In Los Angeles, can a caterer leave your leftovers for you to keep if the event is in your own home, and you can put the food in the fridge right away? There may be some law that prohibits keeping catered food at an event away from your home, like a reception for a wedding. What is the statute that governs this so we can read it?

Common sense should tell you that you have paid for them and that they a re yours to keep or trash, they have no claim they can take them away.
You should read their contract as that is what they will stand by not some Stature as you seem to think there may be.
Use your nous.

You paid for the food and it is being held in your home, you are entitled to keep any leftovers. I don't know the statutes in California. But in my State, if the host requests the leftovers from a catered affair, even if held in a hall or hotel, the caterer should give it to them.

Of course you can keep it. You paid for it and they're not going to take back partially eaten food. And, the requirements for packaging and storing the food in a fridge is for the caterer, not the customer. That is, if they took the food back, they would have to pack and store it according to county health codes. But, the customer can do whatever they want (although I would still follow the health code guidelines).

Yes, if you want them. You paid for the food, so it's yours. How you handle and store the food after the caterer gives it to you is your affair. If there are any laws about this, they will be under the jurisdiction of your local health department, so I'd call the health department in your area.

My aunt owns a catering business in Sacramento, and she always leaves the customers as much food as they want from the leftovers (she always cooks more than enough in case of emergency).
Logically, though, you paid for the food, and it's your food. If they take the food out of your house, it's like they're stealing your food.

I do catering and I rarely bring anything back. I make the number of portions the person ordered and charged them for what they ordered so it now belongs to who ever hired me and paid for the food.
Call a caterer in your area and ask this of them.

If the customer paid for everything, any left overs can be left and should be left, unloess the catere has been given persmission to not do that, or has a rule that prevents leaving left overs.

I had the comparable element bypass on final night with a number of my husband's kin so i've got confidence your discomfort - actually. i've got desperate that I could only settle for it and do the suited i can. This year 2 adult adult males volunteered for dish accountability or perhaps wiped down the cooktop. I do have some techniques/tricks for you. First, placed out in basic terms 0.5 of the prominent dishes and then fill up the dishes as mandatory so which you're able to be useful that all human beings gets some. 2d, ask the youngsters to bypass around the abode and %. up each and all the greater plates, glasses and napkins and according to danger have slightly reward for them whilst they try this like slightly bag with some candy and according to danger a toy in it. third, take administration of the leftovers. There are styrofoam carryout bins at Costco that are somewhat low-value. purchase a number of those, load one up for each kin with in spite of you % them to have and put in a grocery bag for them and set it aside. in case you have a super number of leftovers then you definately supplies you them greater. Fourth, postpone dessert till the tables and the kitchen are wiped clean. this could spur them into helping with the cleansing using fact they % the dessert. 5th, have you ever seen hiring somebody to return in and preserve the cleansing afterwards? ultimately, next year do no longer do a lot. restoration turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, candy potatoes, a green veggie and a dessert. If all people dares to whinge then smile sweetly (prepare first!) and tell them that it grow to be only too a lot for you final year.
