what is this word puzzle called (miss under stood)?
I had a puzzle book a while ago which had a page with phrases that were represented with nothing but simple text, arranged in a literal way. The only example I remember looked like this:
STOOD
MISS
The solution phrase you are supposed to get is "miss-under-stood". Can anyone tell me what these are called or where I can find some?

In the USA the whole genre of this type of puzzle are known as "rebus" puzzles.

In the UK they are known as "Dingbats" or "Dingbat Puzzles". The below file I obtained by googling "dingbat puzzles"

Different newspapers also have different names for them. I have seen them called "Wacky Wordies", "Pictagrams", "Brainteasers","Say what you see", "Frame game", "Whatsits", "Plexers" "Wotsits" and "Wuzzles". I am sure there are other names also.
If you google any of these names you should find loads of sites! Below is one that I found by googling "wacky wordies"!

And this one "Plexers"
