Are the mets the most disappointing team this season?

They had a great second half and have won just 20 games since all star break. It is unbelievable how the Mets are notorious for great Aprils and Mays and atrocious second halves. Even the teams that looked dead have come back to life (Phillies, Brewers). You may argue and say it was the Dodgers, Angels or Pirates but heck they are still in the hunt. You can also say the Redsox but I would say they set Bobby V up for failure. Thoughts?

Update:

I forgot about the Marlins! Has to be them.. Mets are right behind though.

I mentioned the Angels in my description..

I wouldn't say they're disappointing, because some people weren't even expecting them to win as many games as they've already won (66). But, it's one of the biggest drop offs in recent memory. The 62 Mets might be able to beat this team now. It's pathetic what they've turned into.

And meanwhile, Terry will continue to scramble for positives to try talk about to the media, to sugarcoat the losses and try to make people think there are still positives, and acting like they didn't just lose, and havent lost 12 of their last 14 games, and haven't scored more than 3 runs just twice in those 14 games. I know the games don't count, but I'd like to see Terry act like he did at the end of last year, when he almost cried because he cared so much. Now it looks like he doesn't even care any more, along with the players. 3 months ago he wouldn't have put up with this.

But don't get me wrong, I still like Terry, he just doesn't look like the Terry of old.

I think the Mets played over their heads at the beginning of the season. Since the Mets are cutting payroll to get out of their financial woes, they really weren't expected to be much of a factor. Especially in the NL East where they were expected to finish dead last since they have to play the Nationals, Braves and Phillies on a regular basis.

If I were to pick the most disappointing teams this season, my picks would be the Marlins in the National League and the Angels in the American League.

The reasons why I picked the Marlins is because they moved into a new stadium and they went on a spending spree to bring in players like Jose Reyes, Mark Buherle, Heath Bell and others. On top of that, they brought in Ozzie Guillen to manage this bunch. In hindsight, the players they brought in didn't fit with each other.

As for the Angels, they were expected to challenge the Rangers for the AL West. Many were expecting them to beat out the Rangers for the AL West when they went for broke bringing in Albert Pujols, CJ Wilson and Zack Grenke at the trade deadline. Not only are they underachieving and not going to beat out the Rangers. They are looking up at the Oakland A's who are better than they are at only a fraction of the payroll.

You can also say that the Detroit Tigers are disappointing as well. Any team with Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, and Miggy Cabrera plus bringing in Prince Fielder should be running away with the AL Central. In fact, I thought that the Tigers should have had this division closed out by August. Somebody didn't tell the White Sox this.

No, take a look at their roster. They have 2 players who are starting major league position players, Ike Davis and David Wright. Daniel Murphy can hit .300, but he has no power, no speed, and no defense. The same goes for Ruben Tejeda. He can hit .300 but has no power or speed. Tejeda has played in 100 games and has 1 HR and 22 RBI. And he doesn't steal bases. Tejeda and Murphy are not every day players. And I don't even have to say anything about their outfield. The other teams that you mentioned, like the Marlins and the Red Sox, had way more talent than the Mets going into this season (even though I still wasn't expecting them to be great because neither team had any pitching). The Mets were playing over their heads in the first half, it's as simple as that. They don't have the talent to be a good team.

As far as I'm concerned the Rays are the most disappointing. I had high expectations for them to take home field advantage in the playoffs with the lineup and rotation they put together. And I really don't care how bad the other teams do. Certainly not disappointed about the Red Sox season.

How can they account for the fact that every other team in the NL East has won more games in Citifield than they have since the All Star Break?

That's unheard of....and just how much of a future is there with this team?

They are up there cuz they really got my hopes up for me they were the most disapointing cuz I'm a met fan

The phillies werent a disappointment I think their season has been a pleasant surprise

2013 mets are getting a wild card

The Mets were not expected to do anything this year except by perhaps their most delusional fans. So them being where they are cannot be considered a disappointment.

What about the Hablows? People were handing them the AL West championship, and now they're going to miss the playoffs.

No, the phillies and dodgers were supposed to destroy their divisions, now theyre both fighting for the 2nd wildcard
