walked up to you and asked you to show you how to do what there doing. or ask if they could work out with you bcuz they've seen you at the gym a couple times and like how your body looks?

No its not awkward. It shows that they are not afraid to ask people for help. Even if they asked for help, you can always learn something from them no matter what their level of skill is.
