Are there any scam-free and start up free jobs I can do from home?
I'm an unemployed college student currently with a 1 year old child. I've been searching for jobs I can do from home and so far I have not found anything. There have been sites where I would need to pay for a start up fee, which I currently can not. I've tried the Avon way, which I have currently not seen much coming from it, and I also have looked into Scentsy selling, and a few others. I'm lost at the moment. Can anyone help me out a bit?

It's very difficult to work from home unless you have a skill that lends itself to such work. For instance, a web developer can likely work from home, as can a free-lance writer or some accountants. If you don't have such a skill, then you may want to consider whether you've ever worked for anyone who might have work that you can do from home.
Forget about anything where they want a start-up fee--that's a sure sign that it's a scam.
As for Avon and similar marketing deals, it is possible to make money from them, but not all that much.

About.com has an article about finding legitimate work from home jobs. Like another poster said, if a place asks you for money, just pass it on by. You'll more than likely just get ripped off.

Yes. There are quite a few customer service work at home telejobs. The cited source will have a list. Avoid anything that says "Easy at home", "I made 3,000.00 in my first week/day etc..." , "Secrets revealed". Good luck.
