iPod Touch 4th Generation question?

Note 1: I have not updated to the iOS 6 yet.

I have been trying to do a backup of my iPod touch through the regular iTunes method. The iPod is connected, etc. I click to have it back up. HOWEVER, when I look for it in the "Restore from backup" tab, it does not show the backup I did. It DOES indicate the backup on the "Last Update" indicator. I have tried adding a new item and doing a new backup but the other backup did not appear.

I have tried deleting previous backups, rebooting my iPod, but nothing changed.

Any idea how to fix this issue?

The backup is being done locally (to my computer)

    If you are backing up locally (to your computer), I have no idea what is wrong. If you are backing up to the iCloud, it might be that there's just very high traffic on the Apple servers right now. Wait a bit?
