I just tried this and it worked for me:

Close the mail app on the iphone and go to a computer, sign in to your yahoo mail account and do the verification that it pops up. If there is no such thing that pops up then go back to your iphone and do the following:

1.) Delete the yahoo mail account on your iphone.

2.) Add mail account using "other" instead of "Yahoo!" and setup as IMAP account.

    3.) Use the following information:

    - username MUST include @yahoo.com at the end

    - incoming server = imap.mail.yahoo.com

    - outgoing server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com

    - always retype your password

July 2014. Have had this problem. I have been getting repeated pop ups from Yahoo asking for a Password.

Delete Yahoo profile from iPhone 5s, Tried to re setup Yahoo in iPhone. Get error "Server Unavailable"

Also tried setting up using IMAP, get error (user name or password error). Setup Imap as shown on Yahoo site with Authentication and correct ports.

Tried this over a number of days...

    Hi All

Im seriously struggling with the same issue.

I have tried all avenues, removed the email account and currently using the Yahoo mail app... but I really want to have my account on my iphone Mail, Calendars and not having to go into a seperate app.

I used to have it working on my phone and then one day it wasnt syncing and I thought i would be clever to delete the account and reload it ... only now constantly I get the Server Unavailable error....

I have tried Ben's step by step process but nothing is working.

    Any other advice?

    Thank you!

Had this problem today! My yahoo mail keeps on asking for password, I figured something's up.. I deleted all accounts on my iphones and ipad but when I tried adding them back, it says yahoo server unavailable..

But then i figured it out.. Just log in to your yahoo account on your computer, go to account info, manage apps and website connections, you'll see there the websites or applications that may have been suspended by yahoo because you changed your password.. Don't have to do anything.. I think that's the reason mainly.. So try adding yahoo on your iphone again, that should fix it..

Again, log in to yahoo from your computer, go to account info, click manage apps and website connections, that's it :)

    I am getting a similar message intermittently on my PC for the past few weeks;

When I try to reach my.yahoo.com, I consistently receive a message of

    "Invalid URL

The requested URL "/", is invalid.

    Reference #9.eff4f17.1385429984.2e894c."

I'm not even using a "/". Is someone blocking my.yahoo

    or is there another explanation?

Ben's advice didn't work for me. Yahoo's "second sign-in verification" was the problem for me. Following links on Yahoo I generated a one-time app specific password, entered on my phone instead of my actual email password, and VOILA! Problem solved.

I am experiencing the same problem. I did the whole imap and smtp that I have heard other users were successful with but I was not i called yahoo tech support and the tech said I had to pay $19.99. Lol!!! I hung up on him.

Generate App password under "second sign-in verification" works for me.

Turn off the Yahoo's 2nd sign in verification. That did the trick for me!
