SSDI dependent benefit?

I am hoping Judith sees this question!

I've been on SSDI for a couple years and my two minor children each get an amount equal to 25% of my benefit.

When my 17 year old turns 18 this year will my 13 year old then get the full 50%?

Are there any benefits available if my husband were needed to stay home to help me? I need help with ADLs and such. Right now he works nights and Mr17 is home but he'll be going off to college soon enough.

Update:

I get about $1,100 monthly just for me which seems about average.

I was told when I called SSA about something else that my sons benefit would end at 18 even if he's in school.

I thought the maximum dependent benefit was 50% divided by however many kids. Now I'm reading about AIME and PIA? Wondering if I should call again? Although every time it's a new answer :/

Are you getting a fairly low benefit? Because that limits the family maximum payable. Someone with a higher benefit would have a higher family maximum because normally two entitled children would each receive 50% of your benefit amount.

Hate to tell you this but I no longer remember what happens when the family maximum is too low to permit 50% benefit amounts to two children and one goes off the record. If I had a good friend who is still employed at Social Security who specializes in the processing of social security claims, I'd ask but my friend specializes in the processing of SSI claims and she wouldn't know.

My educated guess is that the benefit will rise to 50%.

You do realize that if your 18 year old is still a full-time high school student that benefits will continue until the child graduates, don't you?

The above fact isn't precise. A single be sure on SSDI who has toddlers would be waiting to receive a baby earnings. the earnings is 0.5 of what the be sure gets. no longer each and every baby gets 50%. that could take place in case you had one baby. in case you have 2 toddlers then that is cut up between them. occasion: you will get $one thousand a month in SSDI , you have 2 based toddlers the youngsters could each and every receive $250 a month which equals to $500 , 0.5 of what you receive a month. that's how that's calculated no count what state you reside in. you may want to hold their social secure practices enjoying cards and start certificates on the social secure practices place of work and sign some papers to be certain that the youngsters to began receiving advantages. they could additionally be entitled to back pay advantages in case you had any.
