....and what connecting records do you have to join Thomas Woodward of Ellastone,Staffordshire U.K to Richard and/or Jane in Pennsylvania ...opposite sides of the world and the parent/s came from the US to have Thomas Woodward in Ellastone, have him baptised there and then returned to the US?
Sounds like a very tall story to me.................... or maybe it is just online trees, find a name, does the date fit....have a look if lots of other people have copied and pasted, so join their club, they must be right....no don't think so, but there again I insist on CITED VERIFIED records
Oh and I have just looked at some copies of records I hold and .............there was a Woodward family in Ellastone, a Thomas Woodward was church warden in 1637 and he and his wife Maria had children baptised in Ellastone from 1629................ and his brother Raph Woodward in 1636..... but they went no where, certainly not over to the US and back.........I think you need to relook at any collected data you have

There are hundreds of trees for this family on ancestry.com, but, unfortunately most seem to be cut-and-paste. Many of the trees have different birth places for Richard. As you go back further in time, the less records there, as you have probably noticed.
You might find this book interesting, unless you already have it.
