Hello my friend! This is a very tough match to call as it could definetly go either way when you pit each man at their very best. Both men obviolusly have a great amount of skill, speed and power and both have their share of weakness as fighters too. Hearns had that great height, reach, leverage, tremendous jab, great speed, and lethal right hand and Jones Jr had that great hand speed and awesome reflexes with the abiity to throw punches at very unortodox angles at times. I think all and all that Hearns fought greater opposition in fighting guys like Duran, Leonard, Hagler, and Benitez. I believe that Jones Jr. was physically stronger and that both had issues with their chin. So with all that being said, this is how I see this marquee match up going sir:
The fight
Ringside is buzzing in excitement for this fight as both men enter the ring in prime condition as all the prefight hype is now over. The first round has Hearns firing out his jab and being aggressive as Jones Jr. rolls out of the way of most of the Hearns shots but does get tagged with some good solid jabs giving Hearns the first round. In round 2 Jones Jr. tags Hearns with some good shots as is becoming more aggressive. Jones Jr's round. In rounds 3-6 Hearns resumes with his best weapon the jab and is now taking control of the fight. In round 7 Hearns catches Jones Jr. coming in with a great right hand and sends him down for a short count. Somehow Jones Jr survives but the end is near as in round 8 Hearns finds the chin again and this time Jones Jr. doesn't beat the count.

Jones would've beaten Hearns at Light Heavyweight (175) where the former peaked as a fighter. But at 160, with his speed and boxing skills intact, I'd go with Tommy Hearns. There's no question about Hearns' power, which could take down even heavyweights. It's just a matter of having his speed and skills intact. Hearns lost it when he went up to 168, 175 and eventually at 190. But at 160, Tommy's as lethal as he was at 147 and 154. Jones is unquestionably the more flamboyant boxer and a hard-hitter at that, but he had not fought someone of Tommy's caliber. Also, RJJ's chin has been exposed the past several years, and if Tommy tags him, he'd surely go down. Hearns by TKO in 9!

going with jones here, and i'm saying this as a fan of the hit man. at 160 (or 168), jones is faster and just as powerful of a puncher. if he survives the first 4 rounds, roy wins by ko in 9.
