Ebay Seller Help. Is this fair?

Sept 1 I sold a computer on Ebay. Working 100% fine. Tested it out before selling. It belonged to my elderly grandfather who rarely used it, and really didn't know how to. It still had the stickers on it!

A few days after recieving the item the buyer left feedback claiming the item was great, "the best he ever bought on ebay"

After 2+ weeks he sent me a message saying a pixel was out on the screen and it doesn't stay connected to the internet. And he wants a full refund.

I said no to this. Like I said, neither of these defects were there when I sent it, nor do I believe a computer just doesn't stay connected to the internet... maybe there's something wrong with his wifi.

I also don't believe it takes over two weeks to notice these issues. I believe he dropped it or caused some damage to the screen to make the pixel stuck.

In the end it escalated to Ebay, they sided with the seller and it is now being returned for a full refund. I am very upset about this because I believe the seller caused the damages. Furthermore, what if it doesn't come back in the condition I sent it? Like the stickers are removed, or scratches are there. What do I do then?

So I guess my questions are:

Was this fair?

Is there anything I can do?

What if it doesn't come back in the condition I sent it in?

I imagine you can refute this claim with eBay.

Next time be safe - put in your ads something like "Although item is in good condition - sale is as is. No refunds, no returns." Then the buyer cannot do something like this if item is bought. eBay would tell them they should have read the ad better.

What Jo said is complete crap. Seller's refund policies mean nothing. eBay's Buyer Protection policy allows buyers to return an item at their expense, for a full refund including shipping, for any reason or no reason at all, for 45 days from auction close.

    So:

"Was this fair?" Probably not. You're selling on eBay. eBay routinely treats sellers like trash.

"Is there anything I can do?" No.

"What if it doesn't come back in the condition I sent it in?" Call eBay.
