Question about X Factor and Carly Rose Sonenclar?

Okay, so Carly Rose Sonenclar had one of the best voices and best audition I have ever seen on X Factor. Then I come to find out she was on Les Misrables on Broadway as the girl who sings Castle on a Cloud when she was 9 years old. Doesn't that make her technically a professional therefore dis qualifying her from auditioning? I mean how does that work? I guess I am asking does anyone know what disqualifies you from auditioning? It just kinda seems unfair because she has professional singing experience. I'm not hating on her, I think she's awesome! If you haven't heard her sing go to youtube and check it out. Awesome performance!

Update:

After writing this question, I thought about being under contract. I guess if you are not under contract with an agent, singing company, record label, etc... You're still considered an amateur and therefore allows you to qualify for those shows......Is that correct? Does anyone know?

According to Entertainment Weekly, the rules were loosened in Feb 2012, to allow those with "pre-existing management contracts" to compete. That being said, does her prior work not just serve as a testament to her seriousness about becoming a "star?" Looking carefully at her roles, I would be hesitant to call her full fledged professional. More so, to me, her experience reads like an impressive part-time progression that she juggled while being a student. This is a girl who did her homework and thought objectively before she decided she was ready for this stage; I think that's fair.
