Tempo is really the pace of the music. In films it's very important as it sets the scene.

Have you seen Jaws? The slow rhythmic tempo of the music when the shark is near is a good example.

In the Indiana Jones films, you have a fast tempo when the action starts.

In a love scene, you will have a slow, moody tempo as the loving gets intense.

    Get the idea?

Tempo or also known as BPM (Beats per minute), is a way to measure how fast a song is. A song at 999bpm (like Speedcore) would be fast, but a song at 90bpm would be slow and steady.
