Obama said Israel was "one of our closest allies" in the region. Who are the others?
The quote came from 60 Minutes last night.
If Israel was just "one of our closest allies" in the Middle East, then there must be other countries that he considers to be close allies. Does anyone have any thoughts on which countries in the Middle East qualify to be on Obama's list of "closest allies"?
YESHUA: A lack of reading on your part does not constitute a lack of general knowledge on my part. Is there anything in my question that suggests Obama has made an error? I am only asking a question. As for your answer, you have demonstrated your own lack of knowledge. Obama recently refused to answer the question of whether or not Egypt is to be considered an ally of the US.
The president made this statement in an interview with the Spanish-language Telemundo: "I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we do not consider them an enemy." (His own State Department later contradicted him.)

As for Pakistan, Obama routinely authorizes operations (manned and drone) within its borders, without its consent. Is that what you do to on of your "closest allies"?

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups such as the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba – but the Saudi government is doing little or nothing about it.
According to Ms. Clinton, other major sources of militant funding include Kuwait. Do you still consider them to be a "close ally"?

YESHUA, before accusing someone of having a lack of knowledge just for asking a question, you might want to (1) read the question; and (2) do your homework.

The United States has seven major non-NATO allies in the Greater Middle East region. Israel is one of our closest, but the others are Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, and Morocco.
A lack of General knowledge on your part does NOT constitute an error on Obama's part!

There are Iraq, Afghanistan and pakistan but America lost its trust in Pakistan recently. Since NATO already has control of Iraq and Afghanistan, its safe to consider them as allies.

The very same allies America had when Bush was president, and the same allies we will still have if Romney becomes president.
I would imagine Kuwait to be one, possibly Iraq as well

The same ones that we had under Bush: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, Iraq (remember them), Turkey.
