I was recommended online dating by a friend who now found her match. So i'm trying to find great websites that is popularly well known and i thought about giving it a shot. :) anyone know any? maybe from experienced website users?

Eharmony, & match(.)com are the top dating sites. I see commercials for them all the time! Downside is those dating sites cost money, plus side is there isnt much fakes.
A cool free one is Flirtomatic, its pretty cool, the downside is since its free theres a lot of fakes, perverts and its not easy to find people that live near you.
