how do i let him know i like him?

there's a new guy in my grade this year, and i sit with him in almost all my classes. people have started asking me if we're 'official' yet, but i don't even know if he knows I like him. How do i let him know? [I don't want to ask him out - i'd prefer he asked me if he felt the same way]
