Yes. Don't start the exercises yet. Wait for the pain to be gone for a day or two. Then start doing your exercises again. You may need to keep doing them daily. My knees are OK. I have problems with my shoulders and back and needed physical therapy for those areas. I have a 5-10 minute exercise routine that I learned at therapy that I need to do every day. You may, too, only for your knee.

Anyway, as for the pain right now:

Rest the knee as much as you can. Try to avoid sports, running, lifting heavy objects, etc.

Get some ice or cold packs on the knee, no more than 15 minutes at a time (so you don't damage the skin).

Also if there is ibuprofen or naproxen in the house (brand names Aleve, Advil, Motrin), take that if you safely can, never on an empty stomach. This is an anti-inflammatory. The pain is likely coming from inflammation. That's why you use cold as well, to reduce inflammation.

When you can lie down, elevate the bad knee (stick pillows or rolled up towels or blankets under it) to keep it higher than your heart. This also drains inflammation.

If the pain isn't even starting to go away after say, a week of this treatment (and you only need ice for the first two days or so), you may need to see a doctor again. It's possible there's a new injury to a knee ligament, cartilage, or the kneecap.

By the way, I understand the issue with telling mom and worrying that she'll be ticked that you didn't keep doing your exercises. But this is common--it's like a diet. People lose the weight, and then they go off the diet that got them healthier for a while. You probably just need to get back to your exercises to tighten and strengthen the ligaments and tendons near the knee--but again: not yet. Not when it's sore like this.

    Good luck. Feel better soon.

When you dislocate a joint like that it's because there are tight muscles around it that pull it out of place. If they just fell out of place it would happen to everyone. When you have tight muscles they need to be released to get rid of the pain. Physical therapy usually makes you do exercises that strengthens the muscles to add pressure to the tight muscles instead of less and that is why you still have pains today, the muscles were never released. The tightness caused the bones to bind up instead of the gliding they should do to cause the pain you had. You are wearing away the part of your knee that allows it to glide smoothly. Once that's gone you will be looking to replace your knees. the muscles there are difficult to get released and require the aid of one trained in them.

I have fairly harmful knee problems and in physically therapy I rode the bike alot, nonetheless not the recumbent bike. And comfortably be certain you preserve your feet instantly and in a good function, that is serving to to supply a spice up to the muscle groups under and on the facets of your kneecap. Remember, its not roughly how quick or a methods you are riding the bike each! This helped me alot and I however do it when they start to get sore.

There is a pain gel called Doctor Hoys Natural Pain Relief Gel. I use it on my neck and when I sprained my ankle. I even have an acquaintance that uses it on her bone pain from cancer treatments. It's pretty awesome stuff. They have a website and will send samples if you ask.
