Does Monster energy drink give you diarrhea?

Does Monster energy drink give you diarrhea? My friend drinks them a lot and has stomach problems, I wonder if the two could be related.

I know this question was asked a long time ago, but I'd like to add my two cents. I am a college student, and many times that means suddenly having to stay up late studying, or waking up really early. I try to stay alert for my classes, so even if I'm tired I do my best not to show it. If I'm too tired I'll usually drink a Monster to give me a boos of energy. Now here is what I've noticed: if I haven't eaten or drank anything else for awhile, I tend to get some mild diarrhea. But if I have something other food in my stomach, I'll be just fine. I suspect this has to do with the caffeine. If there are other things in my stomach, the caffeine can be dispersed amongst the other food.

It's the caffeine. It's been said to have a laxative effect, especially in large quantities. The same reaction could come from coffee or soda if you drink a lot of it. Definitely if you already have a sensitive digestive system.

Also,if she has any pre-existing conditions - such as IBS,ulcers etc. Caffeine is one of those things to stay away from. It can cause flare ups.

no, I am fine. Most likely your friend has a sensitive stomach and the combonation of their regular diet and the heavily carbonated and sweetened drink cause for this issue. A factor may be that they don't eat enough dairy. Dairy=hard stool lol.

Yep they can, they can also give severe headaches if you drink too much. My good friend went to the doc with both tummy probs & headaches and they knew straight away it was the drinks. As soon as she stopped drinking them her health became normal again. They can become addictive too (if ur that type of person) my mate ended up getting withdrawls when she stopped drinking it.
