Firstly, convert 1.12 mg Au to mols = (mass of Au in g) * (molar mass of Au in mol/g)

    = (1.12 mg Au)*(1 g Au / 1000 mg Au) * (1 mol Au / 247.98857 g AU)

    = 0.000004516 mol Au = 4.156 x 10^-6 mol Au

Note that 1 mol of Au contains 6.022 x 10^23 (Avogadro's number) Au atoms.

So the number Au atoms in 1.12mg of pure gold is:

    (4.156 x 10^-6)*(6.022 x 10^23) = 2.50 x 10^18 Au atoms
