It depends on what you are using it for. It was originally developed as a substitute for yellow wood glue on jobs where the yellow stuff proved inadequate -"oily" woods like teak. Gorilla glue works in a different way than the yellow wood glues. It expands in the presence of moisture. To use it correctly you have to wet both surfaces of the wood you are joining and apply the glue. It then expands and forces it's way in to the pores. Firm clamping is essential. This is no advantage and in fact a disadvantage if you aren't using it on an oily hardwood. However, in an effort to sell more glue the manufacturers of Gorilla Glue claim that you can use it on anything which simply isn't true. It is, at best, inadequate when used on plastics and other non organic materials and is inferior to conventional yellow wood glue when used with softwoods and most "non oily" hardwoods.

Source(s): I use a lot of glue of all types.
