Get a staffie! But please get a recsue staffie, there are hardly any good staffie breeders and 68 a day die due to overbreeding! There are loads of staffies in rescue, they are lovely dogs, was brought up with 3 of them! If you go look round a rescue you will find your perfect staff or even another breed of dog! It is easy to train adult dogs as they bond quicker and have a better attention span.
To the person say JRTs are snappy, have you ever owned one? Or are you just being stereotypical like a lot of idiots on YA?

Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds and Border Collies are among the brightest dogs that are the easiest to train.
However they have different qualities, that would make them suitable for different people.
Golden retrievers are very sweet, loving and fantastic with children. They love to please their owners, and they don't need harsh reprimands, they just want to do what their owner tells them to. However, they are very friendly dogs, so they don't make good guard dogs.
German Shepherds on the other hand do. They are naturally shy dogs. They are wary of new people/dogs and will naturally defend the property and their owners from potential threats. However their shyness and aggressive nature may cause problems for people who don't know how to direct their energy in a positive way. They can be wonderful dogs that are so versatile, but they need a good handler.
Border Collies are claimed to the most intelligent of all dog breeds. However with most intelligent breeds it holds true that a dumb dog is never bored. Smart breeds get into trouble. They dig, they escape, they become destructive, they become neurotic without physical and mental stimulation (this is also true of the other breeds I mentioned as with many others). Border collies often become neurotic when their mental faculties are not exercised. They were bred as herding dogs, and many will try to "herd" instinctively. Dogs whose mental needs are not met often do bizarre things like trying to herd children, often with nipping and barking. These truly are fantastic and intelligent dogs, but they need someone dedicated and someone who will give these dogs a "job", so they don't develop behaviour problems.

i wouldnt get a jack russel there a bit yappy and can sometimes be snappy towards people not to mention stubborn. a bernese mountain dog is an amazing breed, big, lovable, and very easy to train and command, but they are pretty huge so this might be something you dont want. golden retrievers are famous for obedience, often they are the most well trained and pick skills up easily. staffys ( bull terrier) are adorable if placed with the right owner! i know one that lives down the road to me and he is super cuddly and well trained. i hope ive helped! have fun, dogs are amazing companions!

You need to think about your life style and if you have kids, when you decide on your dog. For our family I researched for a breed that was great with kids. I choose a Keeshond three years ago and he has been an amazing first dog. Easy to train because they are so smart. He has a wonderful temperment, always sweet and loving. The look hard to take care of, but mine gets a good brush out once a week and a bath every three months because they are a double coat dog and doesn't tend to smell. One thing about this do is he wants to be with you. They were bred to be companions.

AKC: An affectionate, good-natured companion, the Keeshond is outgoing and friendly with people and dogs, following the lead of their owners when welcoming strangers.

Between the two I would take a Staffordshire bull terrier. Me personally? I have boxers and they are great dogs. I also have Great Danes and you take the term gentle giant literally with them. Even though they think they're lap dogs they still know how to be gentle with people.

I own 3 dogs. One a Boxer Dog, 2 Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Although Staffies have bad reputation due to bad owners, I highly recommend them if you are one who will bring it up right, it would make a perfect pet. I promise!

My fist dog with my hubby was a Jack Rusell/Chihuahua mix. She looks nothing like a Chi and she's all Jack. She is the best dog we've ever had. And she still is. I think the Jack's are easily trainable. They are also very energetic. The kids nick named her Lightning.

The brightest dogs, according to reputation, are Border Collies. The most naturally protective are German Shepherd Dogs. The latter would be my choice, every time.

Spaniels are good for first time owners. I got one a few years ago and he's been perfect. they are also really fast learners, especially springers
