Does acceleration constantly add speed?

I'm trying to teach myself physics and I'm having a tough time with acceleration.

If I take the velocity of an object falling (say, one second, two seconds and three seconds) would the three velocities be different? Also, what if I throw a ball upwards? Would ball decelerate on the way up and accelerate on the way down because of gravity?

What if I wanted to draw a free-body diagram of a ball thrown upwards at an angle? I know there is a velocity applied once I throw the ball, would that velocity stay the same while the ball is being thrown? That is, if I throw the ball at 30º at 5m/s, would the ball always have a velocity of 5m/s at 30º which would then be added with the force of gravity?

Thank you for your help.

    3 velocities different. Yes

Upwards. same thing except the velocity will go down to zero and then accelerate toward the ground.

Thrown at an angle you have to calculate the two vectors. It will have a starting velocity measured vertically which will be affected by gravity, it will also have a horizontal velocity that will remain the same (except for wind resistance which for physics and math problems is usually ignored) and not be affected by gravity.

For example your ball thrown at an angle might have 2.5 m/s vertical sped and 4 m/s forward speed at the beginning. The forward speed would remain 4 m/s the vertical speed would change over time.

Physics training is terrific obtained at a college via taking training. SciFi video clips not often qualify as training for a level and that i've got yet to verify one that gets it halfway nicely suited, notwithstanding "2001" got here close. having pronounced that, "adventure Horizon" isn't even a SciFi yet a horror action picture. so because it is the incorrect style on appropriate of being undesirable physics. in case you have been to p.c.. up mass whilst being at a given velocity, the effect may be the comparable as in bowling: a collision and the deliver could, at terrific, decelerate. Worst case it may be destroyed. Relativity ameliorations kinematics quantitatively, it would not in fact regulate qualitatively what happens in collisions.
