Let us try ... although these pages do not support the proper writing of long division.

    1799.68 / 2

    Steps:

    Start: 17/2 = 8 1/2 ... write 8 in the answers column, carry 1 (remainder) and next digit 9

    cumulative answer: 8

Next: 19/2 = 9 1/2 ... write 9 (at the right side of 8) in the answers column,

carry 1 (remainder) and next digit 9

    cumulative answer: 89

Next: 19/2 = 9 1/2 ... write 9 (at the right side of 89) in the answers column,

    cumulative answer: 899

carry 1 (remainder) and next digit 6. Since this digit has a decimal point at its left, mark decimal sign on the right your cumulative answer.

    cumulative answer: 899.

Next: 16/2 = 8 0/2 ... write 8 at the right of the answer so far, remainder is 0

    cumulative answer: 899.8

Next: bring down 8 ... (the last digit here), no previous remainder here

Next: 8/2 = 4 ... write 4 at the right of your answer so far

    cumulative answer: 899.84 ........

Remainder 0, no more digit left, hence the long division completes here.

    The answer is

    1799.68 divided by 2 (by long division) = 899.84

    Lets check via calculate/computer: 899.84 .......... AGREED!

    .......

    Enjoy!!
