Before checking fluid level, pull dipstick and read info inscribed thereon, some models require the vehicle to be in PARK others in NEUTRAL when checking fluid level.
If an automatic the engine should be idling and the ATF should be at "normal operating temperature", not cold, engage first gear, pause momentarily, engage second gear, pause, etc. reverse is included in this procedure. ending in NEUTRAL (if required) with the parking brake set. Pull dipstick, wipe clean, insert fully, remove and check fluid level. Add accordingly if needed.
VEHICLE SHOULD BE IDLING IN AN AUTOMATIC WHEN FLUID LEVEL IS CHECKED. Procedure is different for manual transmissions, not sure if Stratus was manufactured with a manual transmission, thereby not giving procedure.

I don't know who Manul is but he didn't say how to remove the plug and insert little finger. If you can reach the trans dope it has enough. If by chance the vehicle is not a straight shift but is instead an automatic, warm up the trans by driving a while and then check with the engine running and the trans in neutral. Believe it or not, a Dodge will show different readings if in Park instead of neutral. Look at the instructions on the dipstick. Or who knows, maybe your particular vehicle is different.

Start the stratus and get it running to operating temperature. Pull transmission dipstick while vehicle is running and wipe off clean. Slide dipstick back into pipe and pull out again and check to see where the fluid level is at. It should be right at the max mark. All of this is done while vehicle is running. Hope this Helps !
