Question about the female vagina.?

Today my boyfriend and I were messin around and he started to finger me. I got really into it and pushed his arm really hard. His fingers went in farther than they ever had (yes, I am a virgin). I felt this excruciating pain like he had hit a wall inside my vagina or something. I've never experienced this before. Is this normal? Is it supposed to hurt? Thank you for any help you can provide!
