Update:

May I ask why you are all choosing Lord of the Rings over Harry Potter?

Obviously Harry Potter. Lord of the Rings is good, even great, I will give you that. But where LotR is a difficult book to read and relatively hard to get into - and I would imagine virtually impossible to understand without having seen the films - the Harry Potter books make clear sense. The language is understandable and the storyline far better. Harry Potter isn't black and white. I would offer the suggestion that LotR is. I am not a Lord of the Rings FAN however I have seen and enjoyed the films, and am enjoying the novels just as much.

I am, however, a Harry Potter fan - a very big one. As such, I understand the deep meanings in Harry Potter and I know all the connections by heart. I engage in the Harry Potter world, not the LotR world - so I am not aware of any LotR connections, deep meanings, theories etc. however, I find that LotR leaves very little room for speculation. The magic in Harry Potter is far more exciting and enthralling than the daily Orc battles. Lord of the Rings is VERY good but boring in comparison to Harry Potter.

LORD OF THE RINGS: the books are really interesting! The Hobbit was so good, and I just really got into it. There is description, but at the same time, it leaves some stuff to the imagination. In HP, the author describes EVERY detail, which annoys me and makes the series drag on. Idk, I just don't get HP.
