My teacher is terrible at explaining things.

    points have no length and any two

    p1=(x1,y1) , p2=(x2,y2)

    are colinear along the line

    r(t) = p1+ (p2-p1)*t = (x1 +(x2-x1)*t ,y1 +(y2-y1)*t )

    distance between two points p1=(x1,y1) , p2=(x2,y2) is

    d = ( (x1-x2)^2 +(y1-y2)^2)^1/2
