Bakers chocolate passed due can I use it?

Sorry I'm very tired. The ingredient says use by 16mos before. I'm making chili. Do you think it would be ok to use?

Usually foods are dated long before they actually go bad. Taste it to see if it is ok...

Taste it before you use it, if it tastes okay then use it. If it doesn't, obviously pitch it. And if it has mold on it, don't go anywhere near it.

Might not taste quite as good, but I don't think it will make you sick or anything. Even if it has white areas on it, it won't hurt you. But if it's moldy or something, that's different.

    It'll be fine, unless melted.
