Why am i so scared of spiders?

I'm a guy, so yeah, embarrassing. When I say "scared," i'm talking about panic of the thought of one being near me, or in my house somewhere. I can't look at pictures of spiders at all otherwise I'll end up standing in the middle of my room examining all the walls and everything. If I see a spider, then I end up staying up all night looking all around. I understand I have arachnophobia but It's extremely intense and It's having a really bad effect on my life right now because it's spider season.. What the hell do i do? One of my close friends brought a spider in a glass near me once. I didn't speak to them for a long, long time after that day. I don't ever remember in my life having a bad experience with them. I've hated them since I can remember. I do understand that they're completely harmless but it bothers me just as much.

maybe films, TV, videos, computer games, and other stuff have conditioned you to be afraid of even looking at spiders.

For example, some people associate spiders with big creepy, crawly things like crabs and lobsters.

For example, some people associate spiders with scary movies like "arachnophobia" movie.

And there was a movie "attack of the killer crabs" which is a very, very scarry movie.

So maybe you just somehow "associate" spiders with scary stuff.
