Why does she still have her children if I reported her to cps?

This girl I know is nineteen and pregnant with her third child. She had a boy when she was 17, and then another boy at 18. She wanted a girl so she purposely got pregnant again. She doesn't take care of her boys and already has an active cps case. She has been doing meth while pregnant in front of her kids so I called and reported her. Apparently they are suppose to take action within 24 hours, but its been a few weeks. Those children need to be taken away from her, so why have they done nothing?

They have done something. They investigated and found no evidence of your accusations.

Your accusation has no doubt been documented and I can assure you that they have already looked into it. Removing a child or children from a parents home is a difficult and long process. It has been mandated by our federal government that ALL families be given an adequate opportunity to accept help to make changes needed for the children's welfare and safety. Often, a family plan is created that requires the parent or parents to adhere to a strict set of rules or to perform various tasks...such as drug treatment, anger management, counseling etc. Most judges will give the parent(s) several chances to take advantage of these opportunities before declaring that parental rights must be taken away and the children are then placed with either other family members or into foster care.

Do keep in mind, that accusations are not PROOF of a person's guilt. And unless the social workers see a clear and present immediate danger to the children, they will not be so fast to remove the kids. That is a traumatic experience for any child and is to be avoided until there is simply no other option.

You do not say anything about the children being physically abused or neglected (not fed, clothed or supervised). Simply not taking care of them is not a crime. She will never make mother of the year, but she is not doing anything illegal at this point that has been PROVED.
