When is the soonest week you found out your baby's gender?

My sister found out at 13 weeks that she was having a boy. It was supposed to be an ultrasound to check for abnormalities but the tech asked if she wanted to know and it was accurate. The earliest I found out was at 17 weeks 5 days when my OB had to do an ultrasound to see the heartbeat.

I have found out as early at just over 14 weeks w/ a previous pregnancy but that is very early. I would think you'd be ok at your stage but most do it starting at 16 weeks just so they don't waste their time. I agree that you should wait on the 3d scan, if doing that, until later as it does look terrible. Optimum time for that is 28-33/34 weeks so there is fat on the baby but still room in the uterus so the baby is not all squished up. Some OB offices will do a gender check for much less money than the 3D places. I got mine(at 16 weeks this time) for $60 at the dr and it would have been $120 at the 3D place. If you can wait, do it at/after 16 weeks to be more certain.

Are they doing a 3D sono as well? If so, WAIT. I had a free 3D sono at 17 weeks, and it looked awful, lol. When I had the one at my doctor's office at 32 weeks, it was amazing. Don't waste your money on 3D until your baby is older.

If you're just going to find out the sex, they should tell you at your 20 week anatomy scan at your doctor's office. If you can wait that long, it'll be free.

Some people have found out as early as 12 or 13 weeks, but the chances of it being wrong are much higher.

My in laws own and operate a 3D ultrasound studio and I will be going there in about 9 days (I will be almost 15 weeks) to see if they can see anything! They have a policy that if you come in 16 weeks or after to try and determine gender and cannot see anything, you can come back for another session for free. I would ask the place you are planning on going to if they offer anything like that and if they don't, I would try to shop around and find someone who does!

I found out at 17 weeks at a 3d place. The earliest 3d places will tell you is atleast 16 weeks. I would wait till your 16 th week

Usually after 16 weeks. But hey you never know they might see something. Its safest to go at 17 weeks or later its easier to see the gender.

16 weeks but usually they make you wait till you are about 20 or 21 weeks to get an accurate answer.
