College /University after 4 year hiatus?

I have never been a slacker, therefore because of the sad state of my local HS my mom put me in independent studies. It worked out well and I graduated at 16 with honors. At the time I wanted to be a Veterinary Technician and graduate from Pierce college so I registered immediately. I had financial aid and everything. However that fall I started experiences medical problems. It got to the point in which I had to drop out of college immediately. I believed that there was no way I could go to college with my condition so I didn't think about it ever again. However its been almost a year since my diagnosis and now I'm stronger and have my illness under control. My family is now encouraging me to go back to school since now I am well enough, and I want to, however I don't know where to start. I want to get a bachelors degree in English for my new dream is to teach English abroad. However Im unsure I can get into an University since I'm so late and so broke. I live right next to Los Angeles Valley College but it won't provide me with a bachelors degree. Any advice.

You start with LAVC, attend there for 2 years (or maybe longer, depends on if you can get all the classes you need), and then get guaranteed transfer to one of the UC's (not UCLA and Berkeley) through the TAG program, for your junior and senior years. UCLA does give priority consideration for CA CC transfers if they go through the Honors/Scholars program. You might also decide to transfer to a Cal State, like CSUN in Northridge, but generally the UC's are more respected for employment, but they are more expensive.

You've been out of school, so it's likely not best to start at a higher level than a community college. You don't want to put unnecessary stress on yourself, you want to continue to be well.

Attending community college first will save you a lot of money. Tuition for CA residents is only about $1100 a year full time (12 units per semester x 2 semesters), plus about $1500 yearly for books and supplies, and there is financial aid if you qualify. Some community colleges even have study abroad programs, and there may even be some financial aid help. (The cost is actually very reasonable.)

You may have to speak with the counselor about why you dropped out, etc, if it wasn't clear.

Here is info for LAVC Transfer programs: http://www.lavc.edu/collegetransfer.html

They don't have easy to find info about the TAG program on the website, but here is info from a flyer.

If you're cautious and look after your self safely, then it's extremely not going that you are going to grow to be pregnant. Condoms most commonly suffice, the capsule is far bigger (make certain you're each verified, simply in case, earlier than determining to have intercourse and not using a condom!) You might use spermicide with both so as to add a bit additional safety. You might positioned all 3 in combination. You might additionally make certain he does not ejaculate within of you (additionally to different ways). If you grow to be pregnant it's considering you are not accurately utilising contraceptives. As for the ethical facet of it, good, I do not know what your ideals are or why you selected to attend. I suppose the truth that your boyfriend waited 8 months after his first take a look at is a well signal that he's a accountable and legit man or woman. If you each love and care approximately each and every different then it's suitable to have intercourse, in my view. While I do think that intercourse earlier than marriage is very well in latest society, I will have to inform you that you are going to consider an excessively robust bond to the man or woman you lose your virginity to. If you 2 ever get a divorce (that is most often more likely to occur a few day) it is going to be so much, so much more difficult than any breakup you have had earlier than. I'm now not pronouncing you will have to wish to marry him earlier than having intercourse with him, I'm simply supplying you with a caution. Just make certain intercourse does not take maintain of your lifestyles. It turns out as although college could be very principal to you, regularly make certain that's your most sensible precedence! I wish all seems good for you and that I have furnished well recommendation.
