How can I make my laptop 64 bit?

My laptop is 32 bit, and for a program I need for school I need a 64 bit version of Windows 7. How can I do this, is it possible? I need to do it by Friday, and I'm on the broke side so I can't afford anything expensive. Can anyone give me some help with this issue?

Update:

I actually resolved my problem, I was self diagnosing my problems, and assumed my laptop must be 32bit since it wouldn't run Adobe Premiere CS6 (which only offers a 64bit version,) but I actually did research on my computer and it is in fact 64 bit. Back to the drawing board.

The only way to make your laptop 64-bit is to re-install a 64-bit version of Windows. First, you must make sure that your processor is 64-bit capable, which is most processors made within the past 10 years. This shouldn't be a problem. Second, you need install Windows from the 64-bit Windows disc of the same version. For example, If you have Windows Vista Home Premium, you will need the Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit version disc. You already own the license for your version of Windows. Your product key is on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop. Please note that this will WIPE ALL OF YOUR DATA! Be sure to back everything up before you do this. Installing Windows is a matter of booting from the disc and following the on-screen instructions. Once complete, you may have to install several missing drivers. These can be acquired from the manufacture's website. If you don't have access to another computer, download the drivers first and save them to a flash drive. Unfortunately, if you have a 32 bit computer you cannot install a 64 bit software. I recommend using a 32 bit version of Windows 7. I hope this helps you.

I doubt there are any programs that are not available in 32 bit currently, if you really do need 64 bit capability the school should provide it as you would have to buy a new O/S version , the school can get it way cheaper than you, what is the program?
