    Shakespeare. Based on his enormous output, his relevance to this day and his immense contributions to shaping the whole English language (sayings and creating new words).

    If it's about playing with the words, it must be Shakespeare. If it is the content of the writings, Anton Cehov for stories, Patricia Highsmith for crime novels and Arthur Schopenhauer for philosophical writings.

    Tough one....but I guess it would be shakespeare, doestevesky, both of them had profound insight into human psyche.
