Will the hospital my daughter was born at have her social security number?
I am filling out some housing papers and I need my daughters social security number. My ex's mom has her card and I know she will give it to me, but it will probably take some time so I was going to get ahold of the hospital but I'm not sure if they will have it. She was just born this year btw.
okay none of you answered my question you dumb *****. I FILED FOR A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD AND RECIEVED IT, HOWEVER, MY EX'S MOM HAS IT WITH HER, AT HER HOUSE. NO ****, I NEED TO FILE MYSELF, I'VE DONE THAT. JUST WONDERING IF THE HOSPITAL WOULD KNOW IT SINCE SHE WAS ******* BORN THERE AND THEY HAVE ALL HER RECORDS. READ MY ******* QUESTION BEFORE YOU CALL ME IRRESONSIBLE YOU STUPID *****

A SSN is issued by the SSA, not the hospital. If you have filed taxes and claimed your child as a dependent, the SSN will be on your copy of your tax return. Your tax preparer may have a copy. If you have received cash, food stamps or medical asst. through the State, the SSN may be on file there. If you are nice, maybe someone will read it to you over the phone. Be nice and ask nicely. Otherwise you can get a new card through SSA. When you get the SSN, memorize it.

NO, you have to file for that with the govt YOURSELF.
If that's already done and she has a card, you'll just have to get it from whoever has it.
Why on earth would YOU NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION????
VERY IRRESPONSIBLE of you.
